Summer is a time to enjoy the outdoors and the sunshine that has finally graced us with its appearance. Vitamin D is often called the sunshine vitamin since our bodies produce vitamin D through sun exposure. It is also the one thing that every single cell of our bodies need to thrive – no other nutrient can claim that kind of power. However, too much of a good thing can lead to sunburns, peeling skin, and many applications of aloe vera. The dilemma we often face though, is the balance between preventing a sunburn and wanting to avoid the many toxins that are present in conventional sunscreens. Thankfully, there are many options on the market now that provide great protection without the numerous chemicals.
Andrea Cogley – Primal Life Organics
I take skin care very seriously. I think it’s really important to get vitamin d and be outside, but also want to protect myself naturally from burning. My favorite sunblock is in stick form and super easy to use and throw in my beach bag or purse! So weather I’m heading to a baseball game, going hiking or heading to the pool this is a product I make sure I have on me for me and my family!
Yvette Johnstone – Badger Damascus Rose
When looking for a sunscreen nothing irritates me more than formulas that are too sticky. This Badger sunscreen is more like a moisturizer and rubs in easily to leave my skin feeling smooth. Even though it’s designed for your face it works great all over and the scent reminds me of a light perfume.
Emily Miller – Goddess Garden Organics
I am all about a good tan during the summer months, but not so much the sunburn. Being a mom to an almost 2 year old, I am pretty picky with the ingredients in lotions and other products that my family uses. I love this Goddess garden spray because not only are the ingredients great, but it sprays on easily and is not too heavy or sticky.
Ashley Lees – Honest Mineral Sunscreen
With summer being here I finally get to pull out my favorite sunscreen. Honest Mineral Sunscreen is the best sunscreen I have ever used since it stays on very well, lasts a long time, and is so affordable. And you have your choice of cream, spray, or stick form!
