Two Powerful Tools To Fight Off Long-Haul COVID

Woman In Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber

It’s been years since we saw the beginning of COVID. In the time since, people have started to realize their symptoms aren’t exactly going away. There’s a name for this: long COVID. The symptoms might involve issues like:

  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Brain fog
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Joint and muscle pain
  • A pounding heart
  • Chest pain
  • Dizziness when going from sitting to standing
  • Menstrual changes
  • Changes in taste and smell
  • Inability to exercise

This list is extensive. One of the biggest obstacles is the difficulty in finding a solution that works for you and your bio-individuality. What worked for your neighbor or friend won’t necessarily revolve your symptoms, and that goes for long COVID and any other health concern.

Many people have been struggling and aren’t sure where to turn or what to do. I want to let you know about two powerful tools if you’re struggling with long COVID: hyperbaric therapy and ozone therapy.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy And Long COVID

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves sitting in a pressurized chamber and breathing in 100% pure oxygen. Your body takes in a higher concentration of oxygen than it can while breathing normal air. In doing so, your body accelerates its natural repair and regeneration processes. Stem cells and growth factors increase, reducing inflammation and promoting the repair of tissues. It’s used for conditions such as hearing loss, wounds, and a variety of other issues.

When it comes to long COVID, the science around hyperbaric oxygen therapy and symptom reduction is pretty impressive. It has been shown to:

  • Improve cognitive issues (1,2,3,4)
  • Raise energy levels (2,3)
  • Enhance sleep quality (2,3)
  • Reduce psychiatric symptoms (2,3)
  • Reduce pain (2,3)

In addition, a very recent study performed a follow-up on a group of study participants whose long COVID responded positively to hyperbaric oxygen therapy. One of the limits of the first study was that they only followed up with participants for a limited time after they had this therapy. In their follow-up, which took place a year later, they found the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy continued, even after such a long period of time had passed. (3)

Ozone Therapy And Long COVID

The air we breathe in is referred to as O2, which means two oxygen atoms are involved. Ozone therapy uses O3, which contains three oxygen atoms. This ozone gas is administered to the body in different ways, including via injection, sauna, insufflation, or even topically via an oil.

Read my article Ozone Therapy: Uncovering The Pros + Cons Of This Unique Wellness Tool to learn more specifically about ozone therapy.

Ozone therapy works by influencing your body’s cells. By getting more oxygen into the body, every tissue in the body can receive the benefit of this oxygen. It’s used to

  • Enhance circulation
  • Boost cellular metabolism
  • Increase energy production

When it comes to COVID, one review study found that systematic ozone therapy was effective in controlling COVID because of its antiviral, oxygenation, anti-inflammatory, oxidation balancing, and immunomodulation effects. (5)

Another study showed that it was effective for people who experienced post-COVID pneumonia. (6) The science shows that it seems to inhibit viral replication and inactivate viruses. (7) Though ozone therapy isn’t for everyone, and it must be used correctly. If you feel unsure as to whether you’d be a suitable candidate, I would suggest you discuss it first with your healthcare provider to make sure it’s a good fit for you.
