Have you done your one green thing today? Shaping your personal wellness isn’t just limited to your body; it also revolves around the health of our planet and the environmental decisions we make. In this compelling episode, I sat down with my friend, Heather White. Heather is the founder and CEO of OneGreenThing, the previous Executive Director of the Environmental Working Group (EWG), Director of Education Advocacy at the National Wildlife Federation, and former head of the nonprofit partner to Yellowstone National Park; all the while continuing her environmental journey through writing and consulting in the healthy food space. Together we discuss the importance of our decisions, and how they impact the future of our environment and our mental health and the exciting science of forest bathing as a healing modality.

Heather White is a lawyer and writer and a nationally recognized sustainability expert with more than 20 years experience. She writes about eco-anxiety, conservation, and the climate crisis from Bozeman, Montana. She also runs her own consulting firm for foundations, businesses, and nonprofits to create a healthier, greener, more equitable world.

She is the former head of the nonprofit partner to Yellowstone National Park, the past Executive Director of the environmental health watchdog EWG, Director of Education Advocacy at the National Wildlife Federation, former Senate staffer, and a staffer on Al Gore’s Presidential campaign in 2000. She has a B.A. in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law.

She’s a frequent spokesperson on environmental issues and has been cited in the New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, MindBodyGreen, and appeared on Dr. Oz, PBS News Hour, CBS Morning News, and Fox News. In 2015, she was recognized by Green Building & Design Magazine with the National Women in Sustainability Leadership Award and was deemed one of MindBodyGreen’s “100 Women to Watch in Wellness.”
