Our Current Healthy Obsessions: Healthy Snack Options
As a team here in the functional medicine health center we spend long days assisting patients on their journey towards better health. We feel it necessary, not only to better support our patients but also for our own health, to practice what we preach.
Having healthy snacks nearby opens an additional opportunity to fuel our bodies with powerful food medicine. There are limitless options when it comes to healthy snacking, and Dr. Cole's functional medicine team loves to relinquish their snacking urges just as much as you do! Here are our favorite healthy snack options that we can't get enough of:
Andrea C. - Cassava Strip Chips
"I love salty and crunchy snacks! That's why these cassava strip chips are my favorite. They are great with dips or even by themselves. They have all the crunchy and salty appeal of a potato chip, but honestly my husband and I like them more than your standard chip. This is a big staple in our home!"
Emily B. - Freeze Dried Fuji Apples
"My absolute favorite on-the-go snack that I don't have to feel guilty about eating in bulk are Simply Nature's Freeze Dried Fuji Apple Slices from Aldi. They're perfectly sweet without added sugar! These apple slices are the perfect way to add a little bit of fruit to your diet if you're someone who keeps buying fresh fruit, forgetting about it until it's too late, then repeating the cycle- which I'm guilty of!"
Emily M. - Rind Kiwi Chips
"These rind fruit chips are my newest snack obsession! Made with just the dried fruit itself, they are a healthy treat that my kids love just as much as I do. If you are a fan of eating the whole kiwi (like me) then you will love these!"
Erin M. - Avocado Crisps
"One healthy snack that has truly been my jam lately, has been Avocado crisps from thrive market! With a little bit of sea salt added, they satisfy my crunchy needs with barely any sugar. If you're a fan of all things avocado I highly recommend these!"
Hollie D. - Good Foods Spicy Queso Blanco Style Dip
"This has been a go-to for me in my target pick-ups recently. I have had a hard time finding dairy-free alternatives that I enjoy. This is packed with flavor and made with veggies and nuts...win win. I have loved this with grain free tortilla chips, pretzels, and my tacos for dinner. If I didn't know, I wouldn't guess that this is a dairy-free option. I love it!"
Josh B. - Rind Apple Chips
“A snack that I've always flocked to would have to be crispy apple chips! I love the taste of these crisps any time of the year. They're a perfect snack to hit those evening cravings, and I love to top them off on a fresh salad with strawberries for that extra crunch!"

Lori S. - Probiotic Fruit and Yogurt Trail Mix
Megan R. - Bison Bacon Cranberry Bars
Tara R. - Jackson's Sweet Potato Chips
"My favorite healthy snacks are Jackson's Sweet Potato Chips. They are so crunchy and flavorful and made with simple ingredients and healthier oils like coconut and avocado which can be hard to find. They are great on their own or with a really good veggie soup or guacamole."
Tiffany L. - Vegan Rob's Cauliflower Puffs
"Vegan Rob's Cauliflower Puffs are my go to snacks all the time. Anytime I can find them in my local grocery store I will buy two bags. I absolutely love them."
Rosemary W. - Everything But The Bagel Nuts
"Trader Joe's has all the best snacks- I can rarely make it out of the store without something new to try! Their Everything But The Bagel nuts are always in my bag so I can snack on them throughout my day."
Yvette J. - Lesser Evil "No Cheese" Cheesiness Paleo Puffs
“Lesser Evil "No Cheese" Cheesiness Paleo Puffs are my go-to snack for munching on while watching a movie. They taste just as good (if not better in my opinion) than cheese puffs from other brands but have the health benefits of being grain-free, dairy free, and made with coconut oil! I have to stop myself from eating a whole bag in one sitting!”
