From there we got into the history of how convenience culture post-WWII systematically dismantled the family dinner table and handed the keys to the food industry, and how we're living with the consequences: 74% of children's diets are now ultra-processed, one in five kids has a metabolic disorder, and we're now seeing type 2 diabetes diagnoses in eight and nine year olds.
The practical content in this episode is genuinely useful. Ali and Becki walk through a full day of meals from the book - breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts - with real recipes, real portion sizes, and real strategies for getting kids involved. They make the case for protein as the most underrepresented macro in children's diets, break down glyphosate's mechanism of action on the microbiome (and how to offset it with glycine, probiotics, and tryptophan-rich foods), and give a clear, compassionate framework for handling picky eaters that doesn't involve battles at the table.
