I've known Tina Cheng Craig for years. She's been a patient, a friend, and one of the most genuinely enthusiastic people I know in the wellness and beauty world. When she reached out to me years ago on Instagram - she has told this story publicly so I'll retell it - she asked if I could be her doctor, and then started texting me at all hours convinced she was sick. She was never sick. She was just curious about every single thing happening in her body. That curiosity, applied to skincare, is how U Beauty was born.
The Siren Capsule Technology is the thing I get asked about most when people see that I use U Beauty products. The short version is this: free radicals, which are essentially sparks of oxidative damage running wild through the skin, encounter the capsule and are tricked into thinking they're attacking a healthy skin cell. When they penetrate the capsule wall, that's the trigger - the active ingredients release exactly there, neutralizing the damage and protecting the healthy cells around them. The skin receives vitamins A and C, AHAs, PHAs, and more exactly where it needs them, without the irritation that typically comes from combining these ingredients. A peer-reviewed white paper was published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology confirming it as "an innovative breakthrough in delivering active ingredients into the skin." That's not marketing language - that's the Cochrane of beauty science confirming the mechanism.
What I loved most in this conversation was the ancestral wisdom piece. Tina grew up Chinese, raised by a grandmother who made bone broth every single day, used grapefruit peels on her face after eating them (essentially a fruit acid exfoliant), told her granddaughter that Chinese people don't compliment beauty - they compliment skin, and that was the highest praise available. Cold water only on the face. Warm water to drink. Bitter gourd tea for inflammation. Snow fungus and black fungus as plant-based collagen sources. Everything eaten in balance, nothing wasted. "Chi" and "fire chi" as the language for what we now call inflammation. She told me that the way the Chinese think about a glass of ice water is: your body is 98.7 degrees. Imagine what it takes to heat up that shock. That's a systems-level way of thinking about food and body that most Western medicine hasn't caught up to. And from Tina, at 50-something, with a 21-year-old son, looking the way she looks - it's hard to argue.

- Ozempic face: Chinese culture has always valued facial fat as a marker of health and longevity
- Intermittent fasting and women: longer windows may decrease metabolic ability — eat intuitively instead
- Micro moments: 100 of something every hour keeps metabolic rate elevated all day
