Drew Canole and I have been circling each other in the health space since the FitLife TV days - over a decade of mutual friends, crossed paths, and "we really need to do this" - and it was worth the wait.

We started with fatherhood. Drew has a three-year-old daughter turning three any day now, with a second on the way, and he talked about how becoming "Daddy-um" changed the way he reads a label - not just what's on it, but what's been adulterated out of it. That led us into a bigger conversation about AI: Drew's term for what he's seeing is the "fluoride stare" - people giving up their own thinking, their own presence, to a machine. One in four high schoolers are reportedly now "dating" an AI. We talked about Prometheus's paradox, about his own ritual of going phone-free from Friday afternoon through the whole weekend, and about writing with a blue pen every day as a way of staying a thinking, feeling human in an increasingly automated world.

Then we got into the terrain work Drew is known for. He told me the story of his own Giardia infection twenty years ago - lost 22 pounds in seven days, followed by months of brain fog and fatigue - which is ultimately what led him to formulate Organifi's Parasite Cleanse. We talked about the CDC's estimate that 1.8 billion people worldwide carry some parasitic overgrowth, the (surprisingly well-supported) folklore connecting parasite activity to the full moon, and the mineral science behind Shilajit, including a clinical trial showing meaningful testosterone increases in men.

But the part of this conversation I want people to sit with the longest is what Drew shared near the end: he was physically tortured by his father as a very young child, documented in his hometown newspapers at the time. What's stayed with me is not the story itself, but what he's done with it - redirecting that hypervigilance into genuine service, and leaning on prayer, TRE, and daily surrender rather than staying stuck in it. That's the real throughline of this whole conversation: terrain, whether it's in your gut or in your nervous system, is something you can actually tend to.

A few of my favorite things we cover in this episode:

  • How becoming a dad (a 3-year-old daughter, with a second on the way) changed how closely Drew reads labels and vets what goes into his daughter's body
  • The "AI stare": Drew's term for people outsourcing their thinking, presence, and even relationships to AI - including a stat that 1 in 4 high schoolers are now "dating" an AI
  • The Prometheus's Paradox framing for AI - humanity handed a kind of fire that could upgrade us or consume us
  • Drew's digital detox ritual: phone-free from Friday afternoon through the entire weekend, with a goal of eventually carrying no phone at all
  • Journaling with a blue pen for 30-45 minutes of free writing - Drew's claim that blue ink encodes more effectively into long-term memory
  • Gut health as the foundation: 90% of serotonin is made in the gut, and gut "terrain" affects willpower and motivation
  • Startling stats Drew cites: 90% of homes have mold, and the CDC estimate that 1.8 billion people worldwide have some parasitic overgrowth
  • Organifi's Parasite Cleanse: 600mg Mimosa Pudica, pumpkin seed, papain (from papaya), wormwood, and aloe - positioned as the gentlest parasite cleanse on the market
  • Drew's own Giardia story from 20 years ago: lost 22 pounds in 7 days, followed by brain fog, skin issues, and chronic fatigue - the experience that led him to formulate his own cleanse
  • The full-moon folklore around parasite activity - Drew's personal experience with recurring headaches around full moons that resolved once he started regular cleanses
  • Shilajit deep dive: Organifi's PrimaVie-based Shilajit gummies, an 8-week clinical trial showing a 27% total testosterone increase and 18% free testosterone increase in men
  • The "voltage body" framing: minerals and high-vibrational food as the raw materials for cellular electrical conductivity, paired with grounding and sungazing (which Drew has done for 20 years)
  • Lesser-known compounds in Drew's own stack: taurine before bed for HRV and sleep, L-theanine with espresso for focus, and methylene blue with red light (640nm) for mitochondrial and heart support
  • Drew's childhood backstory: he was physically tortured by his father from ages 0-5 (documented in Michigan newspapers at the time) - now the root of his hypervigilance, which he's redirected into his work
  • His go-to trauma tools: prayer and daily surrender, TRE (trauma release exercises, based on Peter Levine's work), and free writing - after years of talk therapy that didn't move the needle
  • Closing Art of Being Well segment: his most disgusting-but-beneficial food (frozen fermented spirulina bricks), and his Organifi discount code for listeners
