With a start of a new year comes a whole new set of goals and resolutions. Something about this renewal of time inspires people to become the best versions of themselves. As a functional medicine team, we see firsthand how valuable health is to living your best life so most of our goals for the new year center around optimizing our health in one way or another. No matter what your exact goal is, chances are there is a wellness app to help you reach it. These are just some of our favorites that we have been using for a while to help you take back control of your health in 2019.
As someone who tracks my cycle naturally, it’s important to me to have tools that are reliable and productive. While there are so many great cycle tracking apps out there, My Flo is my go to! Not only does it track my cycle and patterns, but it also gives recommendations based on patterns and every stage of my cycle that I am in. I love how this wellness app allows me to become more in-tune with my body and how I can best take care of it!
We favorite wellness app is Headspace. It is a great app to relieve stress and helps you relax and calm your brain and body. It has amazing and easy guided meditations and mindfulness techniques to use whenever I am feeling anxious or need to zen out.
Since switching over to a Ketotarian lifestyle, I found myself needing to keep track of my calories and macronutrients. While there are many tracking apps, My Fitness Pal is my favorite for how easy it is to use. As someone who isn’t very tech savy, having an app where I can quickly log my food makes me more likely to do so, keeping me on track with my goals.
Since I am a few months pregnant right now, my current favorite wellness app is Ovia Pregnancy! It helps me prepare for all the new changes I’m experiencing and it sends me articles on how to optimize mine and my baby’s health. My favorite part of it is seeing the size of my baby through each week of the pregnancy!
I am a night owl through and through. No matter how much sleep I get, waking up before 8 a.m. for me is a struggle. In order to make mornings less painful I started using sleep cycle to track my sleep patterns and create the ideal window of time for when I should wake up, which has helped eliminate my temptation to hit snooze.
